The numbers, worked

The fee comes off the whole invoice, so your hourly rate shrinks by the same share. Work out the invoice for the total, then divide by the hours.

20 hours × $75 = $1,500.00. ($1,500.00 + $0.30) ÷ (1 − 0.029) = $1,545.11, a fee of $45.11. Divided by 20 hours: $77.26 an hour.

The fixed $0.30 is per payment, not per hour, so it matters less the more hours one invoice covers.

Questions

Should I raise my hourly rate or add a line?

That is your call; the amount the client pays is the same either way. Some processors and places limit adding a fee as its own line, so check the rules that apply to you.

What if I invoice weekly?

Type one week's hours. The fixed fee is charged once per payment, so more frequent invoices pay it more often.

Does the hourly figure include cents?

Yes, it is the invoice divided by the hours, to the cent.
